🌿Thanks for dropping by to learn how to style a yoga space. I am so excited to share with you.
🌿As a holistic interior stylist and yogi with a home meditation space, I love to focus on natural fibre materials, light, aroma and meaningful art.
🌿First though, the space has to be in the (energetically) correct location. Use a Feng Shui app such as Lucky Directions to determine the best space for meditation/yoga. It is also important that the size of the space is suitable for the purpose of use and free of clutter.
🌿Keep furniture to a minimum, and close to the ground. Organic, handmade, natural and neutral is the key, with a hint of live greenery. Pallet day beds work well, with lots of oversized cushions in varying sizes and textures. Colour in a meditation space is very individual. By keeping the basics neutral, an individual can express themselves easily with soft furnishings and art.
🌿Art in a meditation space has many forms, one of the most common being zen art. In alignment with nature, zen art brings the serenity of the outdoors inside. Printed or drawn affirmations on canvas or timber and zen sculptures are often also used. Often art takes the form of a ‘shrine’ on which the meditation is focused. Candles, crystals, sculptures, beads and any other meaningful items can be used.
🌿Light needs to be soft, filtered and warm, with the ability to darken if necessary.
🌿Aroma completes the sensory experience by filling the space with magic. Essential oils help to improve your practice and connect in ways you may not have been able to before.
